Used Car Sales in Argentina Hit Historic Record in 2025

Buenos Aires, Jan 11 (NA) – Despite difficulties in obtaining financing, the sale of used cars reached a historic record in 2025, reported the Chamber of the Automotive Trade (CCA). Last year, 1,887,024 used vehicles were sold, an 8.12% increase over the same period in 2024 (1,745,335 units), according to the report accessed by the Argentine News Agency. The previous record had been set in 2013 with 1,855,032 units. In December, 151,994 vehicles were sold, a decrease of 5.32% compared to December 2024 (160,539 vehicles). Compared to November 2025 (132,089 units), the increase was 15.07%. The Volkswagen Gol and Trend continue to lead consumer preference when purchasing a used car. Alberto Príncipe, president of the Chamber of the Automotive Trade, stated that 2025 "showed that the used car market is more alive than ever." He highlighted that 2025 "became the historic record year for the sale of used cars with a volume of 1,887,024 vehicles." The previous record had been in 2013 with 1,855,032 units. Príncipe said that "2026 presents us with challenges. One is to work together with financial entities to achieve appropriate and competitive financing rates to develop the sale of units, a fundamental tool that is still not at adequate levels today." He also mentioned that they are "updating the sector across the country with updated technological tools aimed at improving the commercialization of stocks and interaction within an effective technological system." In 2025, 104,581 units of the Volkswagen Gol model were sold. "The challenge will be reflected in better public access to the purchase of a used car and, consequently, in the growth in sales volume by agencies in Argentina," Príncipe stated. "Regarding expectations, we must wait for the first half of the year to pass to have a trend on how sales will evolve during this year," he explained.
